To Help Ensure Your ICD-10 Readiness

HNS understands that the process of transitioning to ICD-10 may seem overwhelming. The transition requires significant changes to your business processes and workflow.
For more than two years, HNS has worked to develop solutions and timelines to assist you with meeting the challenges associated with ICD-10 readiness and to help ensure your revenue stream remains steady throughout the ICD-10 transition process.
HNS Solutions Include:
- Developed this new section of our website devoted exclusively to "ICD-10 Readiness"; a comprehensive ICD-10 resource specific to the chiropractic profession.
- Developed an "ICD-10 Readiness Action Plan" for you and your staff to utilize in preparing for ICD-10, which includes specific action steps and recommendations to help ensure you meet the mandatory deadlines.
- To assist those physicians whose software cannot yet produce a HIPAA compliant 837p 5010 claim file, HNS has contracted with Office Ally™ to convert their claim files to the required 837p 5010 format and transmit those files to HNS. (There is no cost to HNS physicians for this service.)
- Negotiated a discounted fee for HNS practices for the purchase of ChiroCode's book: ChiroCode's Complete and Easy ICD-10 Coding for Chiropractic, Second Edition. This book on how to use ICD-10 codes is a 'must-have' for all practicing chiropractors.
- To assist in the conversion of ICD-9 codes to ICD-10 codes, HNS contracted with Dr. Mario Fucinari; an expert in ICD-10 for chiropractic, to provide you with a list of the top 100 diagnoses and the most likely corresponding ICD-10 codes.
- Updated our documentation policies to help ensure your health care records meet the specificity requirements associated with ICD-10. (HNS documentation policies are posted on the HNS website under the "HNS/Payor Policies" section.
- Updated the HNS Self-Assessment Documentation Form to reflect the increased level of documentation required by ICD-10.
- Updated the HNS clinical and administrative forms on the HNS website, as applicable, to reflect ICD-10 changes.
- Developed a custom edit for claims submitted electronically to HNS which will compare the ICD code(s) reported on the claim to the date(s) of service reported on the claim to ensure the correct code set is used as those would otherwise be denied by the payor.
- Developed an additional custom edit for claims submitted electronically to HNS to identify claims that include both ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes on the same claim which would otherwise be denied by the payor.
To help ensure there is no delay in the processing of your claims and to prevent disruption in your practice revenue stream, we urge you to carefully review all of the information in the "ICD-10" section of this website.
