UPDATE: Electronic Claim Filing Enhancement

August 19, 2026

Dear Provider,

HNS is pleased to share an important expansion of our electronic claim submission capabilities. HNS previously notified you that you have the ability to electronically submit corrected voided primary claims and secondary claims for BCBS, Cigna, and MedCost to HNS in the same manner you electronically submit primary claims.

With only a few exceptions, we are pleased to announce,
these claim types for all HNS payors
may now be submitted electronically!

Although some claims must still be submitted by paper, electronic submission should be used whenever possible. Filing claims electronically offers significant advantages, including but not limited to, faster reimbursement, improved accuracy, fewer denials, and reduced administrative overhead.

Claims That Must Continue to be Submitted by Paper:

  1. Corrected/Voided Secondary or Corrected/Voided Tertiary Claims
Corrected/voided claims submitted to correct issues on Secondary or Tertiary claims.

  2. Claims with Attachments
Any claims with attachments, which must be sent to the payor, including, for example, claims with supporting office notes, subscriber ID cards, etc.

  3. Tertiary Claims
    All Tertiary claims.

  4. Claims for specific Cigna TPA Plans
Please refer to the list of TPA plans in the Cigna Quick Reference Guide under “Billing/Claims Support” which must be sent via paper.

For complete claim submission requirements, please refer to the HNSConnect User Manual. The most current version of the HNSConnect User Manual is available under EDI/Electronic Solutions.

After reviewing this information and the HNSConnect User Manual, please contact your HNS Service Representative if you have questions or require additional assistance.

Lastly, please be sure to share this important update with your billing CA.

Sincerely,
HNS
