Adverse Events

 

 HNS Policy 

Providers must notify HNS, in writing, if an adverse event occurs in their practice associated with a patient whose healthcare plan contracts with HNS.

 

Providers must notify HNS within five business days of the date the adverse event occurred.

 

An adverse event is a negative consequence of care that results in an unintended injury, illness, or death that may or may not have been preventable.

 

The written notification must include the following: 

  • The name of the provider; and

  • The date the event occurred; and

  •  A summary of the event.
